KatadataOTO – Until now, the Puncak route II has been one of the alternative routes for people wanting to go to the Puncak area. Although it is a detour compared to the main road, the traffic is relatively lighter.

However, the Cianjur Resort Police, West Java, do not recommend the Puncak II route as an alternative choice for this year's Lebaran homecoming. They assess that the route has a lot of damage and lacks traffic signs and lighting.

“The Puncak II route has been surveyed and is not recommended as an alternative route during the homecoming for various reasons. Starting from the extensive damage, narrow road sections, to the presence of landslide-prone spots,” said AKP Hardian Ardianto, Head of the Cianjur Police Traffic Unit, as reported by Antara (17/03).

Besides the Puncak II route, they have also surveyed several other alternative routes and stated that some locations can be used as options. However, drivers are still urged to be careful because the road conditions are very diverse.

One of them is the Jonggol route, which is assessed to have several potholes in various locations. Fortunately, the relevant agency has started making repairs, so it is expected to be ready for use by homecoming travelers.

“However, drivers who intend to pass through must be careful due to the lack of street lighting. Meanwhile, for traffic signs, it will be coordinated to add more so that the Jonggol alternative road is feasible for homecoming travelers," he then affirmed.

Not only that, they will also improve facilities and security along the route. So that people can later have a safe and comfortable route when going home or traveling from Cianjur to Bogor and then to Jakarta.

Besides Jonggol, the Sukaluyu alternative route that connects to the main southern Cianjur route has also received attention. This is because the route is considered quite comfortable despite narrowing at several points and tending to be congested in the afternoon.

It was previously reported that to reduce congestion in the Puncak Bogor area during Lebaran 2025, the police are implementing various traffic engineering measures. Starting from a stop-and-go system, one-way traffic, to odd-even restrictions.

This measure is expected to reduce the risk of severe traffic jams that commonly occur during long holidays.
