KatadataOTO – Some time ago, news spread widely about the Jakarta Provincial Government (Pemprov DKI) Jakarta wanting to implement Electronic Road Pricing (ERP).
It was mentioned that this policy would be implemented on 25 roads in DKI Jakarta.
However, the news turned out to be untrue, a hoax. This is because the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has no intention of implementing ERP yet.
"The reason it hasn't been implemented to this day is that the supporting system is not yet complete," said Pramono Anung, Governor of DKI Jakarta, on the official website of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government, Tuesday (27/05).
Pramono Anung stated that they are currently focused on completing the ERP support system first.
For example, improving and developing Transjabodetabek. So that the public can use proper public transportation.
Furthermore, Pramono Anung revealed that they have so far launched three new Transjabodetabek routes.
Such as PIK 2–Blok M, Vida Bekasi–Cawang, and Alam Sutera–Blok M. This way, this step can meet the needs of the community.
Moreover, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government is also preparing four new Transjabodetabek routes to be operated soon.
"After this, we will of course review whether there are other additional routes," continued Pramono Anung.
Then, if all Transjabodetabek routes have been fully developed, they plan to provide subsidies for this transportation system.
"Only then will we decide when to implement it, sometime after that. So it is not certain that ERP will definitely be implemented," Pramono Anung emphasized.
For your information, a similar statement was previously made by the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub).
They stated that the implementation of ERP cannot be done in the near future. This is because the Jakarta Dishub is focusing on other things first.
"The information above is a hoax with misleading content," wrote the DKI Jakarta Dishub on their Instagram account.
The DKI Jakarta Dishub still wants to focus on developing Transjakarta, MRT, LRT, and other public transportation policies for now.
This way, people in Jakarta can comfortably use public transportation, especially for daily activities.
It should be noted that the discourse on implementing ERP on Jakarta's streets has actually been circulating for the past two years.
This policy is known to be in the draft of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Regional Regulation concerning Electronic Traffic Control.
It is mentioned that the regulation was created for several purposes. One of them is that the implementation of ERP is expected to allow for better traffic control by restricting motor vehicles and certain vehicles using electric propulsion.
