Pramono Anung said that excavation projects and state guests are the main culprits or causes of Jakarta's traffic jams.

KatadataOTO – Traffic in Jakarta shows no signs of improving. In fact, it tends to get worse day by day.
Especially during peak hours when people are busy. Such as commuting to the office and school.
Of course, Jakarta's traffic frustrates the public. Because all activities are hindered.
Hearing this, Pramono Anung Wibowo, the Governor of DKI Jakarta, revealed that there are several factors causing the heavy traffic.
For example, stalled excavation projects or fieldwork in several locations make Jakarta's traffic even worse.
“Like yesterday, we held a special meeting. Work from the Water Resources Agency, the Ministry of Public Works and Housing (PUPR), cable excavation, and so on are what's causing disruptions,” said Pramono Anung, as quoted by Antara on Thursday (12/06).
Therefore, Pramono has requested more intensive coordination with the relevant ministries and institutions.
He believes that the presence of abandoned excavation sites that remain fenced off or barricaded worsens traffic flow.
The Governor of DKI Jakarta requested that inactive project sites be opened immediately to reduce vehicle buildup.
If the excavation work is not yet being continued, Pramono said the sheds or barriers at the project site should be opened.
“So that it doesn't cause traffic jams. This is what I'm asking to be put in order,” Pramono Anung emphasized.
Furthermore, Pramono emphasized the need for work integration between agencies, including with central ministries, in regulating and scheduling infrastructure projects to avoid overlap.
“We are working to strengthen coordination across ministries and institutions. Central government projects should not cause local traffic jams without a solution,” he concluded.
On the other hand, state guests are also said to be one of the culprits of traffic jams in Jakarta, as public travel is disrupted.
“Frankly, when there are special events like state guests, post-flooding situations, accidents, and so on, the traffic is still infuriating,” said Pramono Anung.
Meanwhile, the DKI Jakarta Regional People's Representative Council (DPRD) said that the odd-even (gage) policy is not very effective in overcoming Jakarta's traffic.
Dwi Rio Sambodo, a member of the DKI Jakarta DPRD, believes that Jakarta's odd-even policy is only a short-term solution.
He stated that the government and policymakers need to prepare other strategies.
“The problem of Jakarta's traffic is a structural issue, not just a matter of technical traffic engineering,” Rio said on a separate occasion.
Rio found that many people choose to buy two vehicles to avoid Jakarta's odd-even policy.
