KatadataOTO – The commercial vehicle market is indeed facing many challenges. Making sales performance less than optimal in 2025.
Therefore, a number of manufacturers hope the government will provide assistance to help it recover.
“One of the obstacles in commercial vehicles is the issue of back-up finance. It's not easy for consumers to get back-up finance from leasing companies now,” opened Aji Jaya, Sales and Marketing Director of KTB in Surabaya, East Java.
According to Aji, this situation is quite difficult. Considering that throughout 2025, a number of business sectors have experienced a decline.
The impact was immediately felt by commercial vehicle manufacturers. Their sales became suboptimal.
“At the beginning of the year, several underperforming business sectors stalled. From coal, and eventually their performance was not good,” continued Aji.
Therefore, he hopes the government can encourage financing companies to be more aggressive in providing credit to consumers.
That way, consumers will be willing to purchase Mitsubishi Fuso products and other brands for their business needs.
In addition, Mitsubishi Fuso also asks the government to spend. This can be done by implementing several strategic projects in 2026.
So that the need for commercial vehicles can resume. Automatically, manufacturers' sales can be stimulated again.
“Several industrial sectors that have not been contributing, (such as) infrastructure, have almost stopped because there are no funds to be spent,” Aji emphasized.
He also hopes the situation can recover soon. Especially in 2026, so they can sell many products again.
For your information, Krama Yudha Tiga Berlian Motors (KTB) as the producer of Mitsubishi Fuso in Indonesia had asked the government to provide incentives.
“Yes, that's right, it's a positive (incentive proposal). There must be strategic steps from the government on how the automotive industry, especially commercial vehicles, can recover,” said Aji.
According to Aji, the commercial vehicle segment needs a stimulus from the government. Considering the sales decline is not only seen this year.
A similar condition has been ongoing since 2022. It then continued in 2023, 2024, and into 2025.
A similar proposal was also made by Kalista. However, they are asking for a stimulus for commercial electric vehicles.
“Perhaps there needs to be an incentive like for passenger vehicles where the Value Added Tax (VAT) is 10 percent or for motorcycles (an incentive of) Rp 7 million,” said Albert Aulia Ilyas, President Director of Kalista, on a different occasion.
The use of electric vehicles for commercial purposes is said to be able to help reduce emissions. Considering the operational routes in this segment are quite extensive.
