KatadataOTO – Various free homecoming programs for Eid al-Fitr 2025 are being offered by several parties. For people who want to return to their hometowns, there is no need to worry about the security of your vehicles.

This is because the police are ready to accept motorcycles or cars from people who wish to leave them at the nearest local or district police station.

“Yes, please go ahead, the local police stations will also accommodate (travelers' vehicles). Then our district police will try to accept them,” said Police Grand Commissioner Susatyo Purnomo Condro, Head of the Central Jakarta Metro Police, as quoted by Antara on Friday (14/03).

Susatyo said that the free motorcycle and car drop-off service is an annual program from the National Police. This is done to provide a sense of security for the public.

The program will start running once the Eid al-Fitr 2025 homecoming period begins. So you can return to your hometown with peace of mind.

Meanwhile, the procedures and requirements that must be met by the public to drop off their cars or motorcycles for free will be announced soon.

“We are working with local neighborhood units (RT and RW) to try to collect data on residents who are traveling for the homecoming so that we can conduct full patrols,” Susatyo affirmed.

It is hoped that the public will take advantage of the facilities provided by the Central Jakarta Police. This will help prevent unwanted incidents.

Moreover, the Traffic Directorate (Dirlantas) of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police has previously urged travelers not to use motorcycles when returning to their hometowns.

The public is asked to use other modes of transportation. Such as buses, trains, and planes to meet their relatives.

"I hope that motorcycles will be the very last alternative, I truly implore you," said Police Grand Commissioner Latif Usman, Head of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police Traffic Directorate, on a different occasion.

Latif reasoned that traveling by motorcycle for the homecoming is very prone to accidents. Especially when the rider experiences fatigue.

Thus, it poses a high risk of causing traffic accidents. Considering that such incidents have already claimed many victims.

"Because 70 percent of traffic accident victims are from motorcycles, and fatalities are also from motorcycles," Latif continued.

Therefore, he advises the public to use other transportation or participate in the free homecoming programs.

"The public transportation in Jakarta provided by the Department of Transportation is more than sufficient for the homecoming," Latif stated.

Based on the above, you can take advantage of the free vehicle drop-off program at police stations while you are away in your hometown.
