Shell gas stations have recently been heavily frequented by motorists due to the issue of adulterated Pertamax.

KatadataOTO – The issue of adulterated Pertamax that spread some time ago has turned out to be a blessing. Especially for private SPBU (Public Fuel Filling Stations).
As experienced by Shell Indonesia. They have been flooded with customers for the past few days.
According to KatadataOTO's monitoring, motorcyclists were queuing in quite long lines when buying fuel at the Shell station on Salemba Raya, Senen District, Central Jakarta on Wednesday (05/03).
The customer buildup even reached two lines. This is quite a rare occurrence at this particular gas station.
“Yes, it's crowded now, ever since the issue next door (adulterated Pertamax). So there are many customers every day,” said one of the sales staff to KatadataOTO, Wednesday (05/03).
According to him, currently, both two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicle users are flocking to buy their products.
However, he was reluctant to mention the extent of the increase that occurred after the adulterated Pertamax issue.
“The increase is significant, so we're really working now. Shell used to be more relaxed, but now it's quite busy,” he asserted.
The salesperson also stated that the surge in customers is not only happening at that Shell station but also at several other locations.
On the other hand, a customer who wished to remain anonymous said that there were several considerations for choosing to buy fuel at the private gas station.
“You have to be selective about where you buy, because we buy Pertamax so as not to take someone else's quota, but then the Pertamax is adulterated,” he said.
He did not deny that Shell has become more crowded with buyers now, forcing him to queue with other customers.
“Since that adulterated (Pertamax) issue, it's become crowded, but that's okay because it's my choice,” he concluded.
For your information, previously the AGO (Attorney General's Office) uncovered an alleged corruption case in crude oil management.
The case involves Riva Siahaan, President Director of Pertamina Patra Niaga, along with several other individuals. The AGO revealed that the investigation into this case began with public complaints about the quality of Pertamina's fuel.
They then conducted observations and found complaints about the poor quality of the fuel. This was then linked to a number of other issues.
Riva was said to have purchased RON 92 type fuel, but only bought a lower octane version.
It was then mixed in storage or depots to make it RON 92. However, this action is not permitted.
