KatadataOTO – A fuel (Bahan Bakar Minyak) shortage occurred at the end of January 2025. Especially at gas stations (Stasiun Pengisian Bahan Bakar Umum) owned by Shell Indonesia.
All products such as Shell Super, V-Power, V-Power Diesel, and V-Power Nitro+ are empty, a.k.a. sold out.
The situation above has been ongoing for some time, making it difficult for the public to buy Shell fuel.
Seeing this, Shell Indonesia has spoken out. They are responding to the current condition of several of their gas stations.
“We apologize for the inconvenience,” said Ingrid Siburian, President Director & Managing Director Mobility, Shell Indonesia when contacted by KatadataOTO on Friday (31/1).
Ingrid further explained that there are a number of factors why Shell fuel has been out of stock for the past few days.
“Shell Indonesia would like to inform you that there are currently constraints in the procurement and distribution of fuel products,” she continued.
Unfortunately, she did not explain in detail what constraints they are facing that have led to the fuel shortage at several gas stations.
Nevertheless, the multinational oil and gas company from the UK and the Netherlands is trying to rectify the situation.
This is to ensure their services return to normal, allowing the public to purchase all types of fuel without difficulty.
“We are constantly coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure the availability of fuel products at Shell gas stations as soon as possible,” Ingrid affirmed.
They could not yet explain how long the fuel shortage will continue, so consumers will have to be a little patient.
However, some facilities are still serving customers, such as Shell Select and the workshop, which are operating to this day.
As a reminder, a salesperson at a Shell gas station in the Kranggan area, Bekasi, West Java, previously explained that they had run out of fuel stock.
“The fuel has been out for three days now, everything is empty,” said a salesperson when met.
According to him, at first only Shell V-Power, V-power Diesel, Diesel Extra, and V-Power Nitro+ were out of stock.
“V-Power has been empty for almost two weeks. Meanwhile, we just ran out of Shell Super three days ago,” he said.
The gas station staff could not explain why they haven't received a fuel supply for several days.
However, under normal conditions, they usually receive shipments of Shell Super and others almost every day.
