KatadataOTO – The zero Over Dimension Over Loading (ODOL) vehicle policy, targeted for 2027, is expected to run smoothly. This is because the government, the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI), and several logistics driver associations in Indonesia have agreed to form a team to formulate the regulations.
Thus, it is hoped that the voices of drivers and truck entrepreneurs can be better heard than before.
“We agree with both the government and the Nusantara Logistics Drivers Association (APLN) to form a joint team to formulate several matters that are the aspirations of our friends,” said Sufmi Dasco Ahmad, Deputy Speaker of the Indonesian House of Representatives, as reported by Antara (05/08).
He also revealed that the agreement was reached following the attention given by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to accelerating the implementation of Indonesia Zero ODOL.
"It was conveyed earlier by the Minister of State Secretary (Prasetyo Hadi) that the President is paying attention to the issue of over dimension and overload," he said.
Not only that, Dudy Purwagandhi, the Minister of Transportation, is also committed to preparing the technical aspects related to the agreement that has been reached. Therefore, it is not impossible that the process will be faster.
“We agree that a joint commitment is needed to implement zero ODOL. There are several things being prepared related to the enforcement of the rules so they can be implemented as jointly agreed in the meeting earlier,” he said.
Meanwhile, Suroso, Chairman of the Independent Drivers Alliance (API), affirmed the commitment of logistics driver associations in the country to oversee and implement the zero ODOL policy in 2027.
"Essentially, the drivers will agree and, together with the government and the DPR, will oversee the move towards Zero ODOL 2027. We have agreed that zero ODOL in 2027 must be implemented in our country," he said.
It was previously reported that the ban on ODOL trucks had actually been planned since 2009. Unfortunately, there have always been delays, so it could not be implemented optimally.
The government is still focused on conducting socialization until the end of 2026. This step will not only reach the drivers in the field but also business owners and service users.
