KatadataOTO – Today, PT Hutama Karya (Persero) will functionally operate three sections of the Trans Sumatra toll road. The infrastructure is planned to be open until Thursday (10/04).
The three functional toll roads are planned to be open only from 08:00-17:00 WIB and not all vehicles will be allowed to pass. This is to ensure the safety of its users.
“The functional operation is only for Class I vehicles (non-bus), such as private cars and other small vehicles, with a maximum speed of 40 km/h. Meanwhile, heavy vehicles such as trucks, buses, and non-Class I vehicles are not allowed to pass,” said Adjib Al Hakim, Executive Vice President (EVP) Corporate Secretary of Hutama Karya, as reported by Antara (24/03).
The three toll road sections that will be functionally operated are the Pekanbaru - Padang toll road, Sicincin - Padang Section (35.90 km), the Sigli - Banda Aceh toll road, Section 1 Seulimeum - Padang Tiji covering 23.95 km, and the Palembang-Betung toll road, Section 2 GT Rengas/Musi Landas-Pangkalan Balai spanning 30.67 km.
The presence of these three toll roads is expected to reduce the traffic congestion that may occur, especially during the Eid 2025 homecoming season.
Specifically for the Palembang - Betung toll road section 2, a one-way scheme will be implemented from Palembang towards Jambi during the homecoming flow. Meanwhile, during the return flow, traffic will be directed towards Palembang.
Meanwhile, the Sigli - Banda Aceh toll road section 1 will implement a two-way scheme, both from Seulimeum to Padang Tiji and vice versa. The Pekanbaru - Padang toll road, Padang - Sicincin section, will also implement a two-way scheme, both from Padang to Sicincin and vice versa.
Although these are functional toll roads, Hutama Karya has provided various supporting facilities, including increased patrol frequency, installation of additional signs, and more optimal coordination with the police and related agencies.
"We urge all travelers to prepare themselves before passing through by ensuring they have an electronic money card and are in prime physical condition," said Adjib Al Hakim.
In addition, travelers are asked to comply with the functional speed limit, follow the signs and information boards that have been provided, and obey the instructions and directions from officers in the field. This is expected to make the homecoming journey safer.
