Tomorrow's Car Free Day on Sudirman Thamrin is canceled.

KatadataOTO – Motor Vehicle Free Day (HBKB) or commonly called Car Free Day is canceled on May 25, 2025. This decision was made due to the security for an international agenda on that day.

The Sudirman – Thamrin area, which is usually the location for Car Free Day, is planned to be passed by state guests.

"HBKB on Sunday, May 25, 2025 is canceled. There are state guests, namely the Prime Minister (PM) of China, whose activities will cross the Sudirman-Thamrin Area," said the Head of the DKI Jakarta Transportation Agency, Syafrin Liputo in Jakarta, as reported by Antara (24/05).

This decision is claimed to be in accordance with the Governor's Regulation (Pergub) of DKI Jakarta Number 12 of 2016 Article 5 paragraph 1, which states that the implementation of Motor Vehicle Free Day can be canceled if at the same time a special event (national/international) is held, where the event requires special traffic arrangements and security.

It should be noted that Car Free Day is an event held by the DKI Jakarta government every Sunday. On that day, motorized vehicles are prohibited from passing through the area at certain hours.

The locations vary, but the most well-known to the public is the Sudirman-Thamrin road. Although its main purpose is to reduce vehicle exhaust emissions, the public also often uses it for exercise.

Police Implement Traffic Diversions

A number of traffic diversions will also be implemented by the Metro Jaya Regional Police starting today (24/05) until the departure of the state guests on Monday (26/05). This step is taken to ensure the visit runs smoothly.

The locations for the traffic diversions will focus on Gatot Subroto, Sudirman, and Thamrin roads. The public is expected to adjust their routes and travel schedules to avoid congestion.
