KatadataOTO – The work from anywhere (WFA) policy for civil servants (ASN) and state-owned enterprise (BUMN) employees has successfully caused the homecoming exodus to start earlier. Thus, it is hoped that the concentration of traffic can be broken up.

This situation is evident from the high volume of vehicles passing through several points since Friday (21/03). Therefore, it is hoped that during the peak of the homecoming exodus, predicted to occur on March 28–29, 2025, the congestion will not be too severe.

“It's very good that the government made a quick decision regarding the work from anywhere policy. So on D-10, the traffic has already visibly increased,” said Police Inspector General Agus Suryonugroho, Head of the National Police Traffic Corps, as reported by Antara (24/03).

He also explained that based on Jasa Marga data on D-10 of Eid al-Fitr 2024, the number of vehicles heading towards the Trans-Java toll road was 115,000. Meanwhile, this year, the number has increased by 37.5 percent to 158,000 units.

“Meanwhile, vehicles heading to Sumatra via Bakauheni also saw an increase of 15.7 percent, and on D-9, it was 82 percent. This means the WFA policy is the right move,” he then emphasized.

It should be noted that the number of travelers is expected to decrease compared to last year. Nevertheless, the government and the police continue to pay special attention, considering that mobility during the Eid holiday is always high.

Therefore, various policies have been implemented, such as the WFA policy, the implementation of Operation Ketupat, and a travel ban for three-axle vehicles.

It is known that the National Police have been conducting Operation Ketupat 2025, which started on March 23 and will run until April 8, 2025. During this operation, the police will open 2,835 posts, consisting of 1,738 security posts, 788 service posts, and 309 integrated posts.

"We will also secure 126,736 locations, including mosques, Eid prayer sites, shopping centers, terminals, stations, ports, airports, and tourist attractions,” he said.

The police have also opened a hotline service at number 110 to provide maximum service for travelers during the 2025 Eid period. With this, it is hoped that the Eid homecoming can proceed smoothly and safely.
