Operating the transmission lever when parking (takes some getting used to)

KatadataOTO – It's no exaggeration to call the BYD Atto 1 the most phenomenal new car at the recent GIIAS 2025. One of the reasons is certainly the combination of a sporty hatchback design and a very bold price offering, namely Rp 195 million for the Dynamic variant and Rp 235 million for the Premium version.

The combination above certainly makes the BYD Atto 1 an EV that is a serious challenger to the Toyota Agya, Daihatsu Ayla, and Honda Brio in the LCGC class. Meanwhile, in its own category, it competes with the Wuling Air EV, Seres, and VinFast VF3.

The next question is, what about its performance? KatadataOTO recently had the opportunity to test it around Semarang - Jogjakarta, and here's what we can conclude.

Interior and Features

KatadataOTO went straight into the interior. The exterior design is intentionally not commented on further because, besides being visually apparent, it has been widely reviewed. In essence, the “baby Aventador,” a creation of Wolfgang Egger, a former designer for both Audi and Lamborghini, looks sporty, and it shouldn't be difficult to win the hearts of Gen Z.

Behind its petite body, the BYD Atto 1 is quite comfortable for 4 to 5 adult passengers. The cabin feels ergonomic, especially since the driver's seating position in the highest variant is equipped with an electric seat, a feature not found in any LCGC models in Indonesia.

As usual, all feature controls are concentrated on the 10.1-inch Full HD touchscreen in the center of the dashboard, supported by Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity. Right below it, there is also a modern-style lever to operate several features such as gear shifting, auto hold, driving modes, AC, and others. The AC can also be adjusted via the voice command feature.

On the entertainment side, there are 4 speakers that generally provide good sound output. Not to be missed, all passengers can enjoy karaoke using the original BYD mic as an additional accessory.

Further down, between the front seats, there is a wireless charger.

For your information, the Atto 1 Dynamic variant is equipped with 4 airbags, while the Premium has 6. Other safety features include ABS, EBD, ESC, TCS, and hill start assist.
