KatadataOTO – Japanese and Korean automotive manufacturers are starting to look for ways to compete in the Chinese market through collaborations with local Chinese brands.

Undeniably, China's electrification manufacturing technology is quite capable and allows cars to be sold at competitive prices.

However, most of the products from these collaborations are sold specifically in China. This is because they have been adapted to the tastes and needs of local consumers.

The collaboration has proven to be successful. For example, the Mazda EZ-60 is claimed to have garnered 38,000 orders since its introduction in China in April 2025.

The Mazda EZ-60 is the result of a collaboration with the Chinese company, Changan. The model is also intended for the export market.

Indonesia is one of the strong candidates that PT Eurokars Motor Indonesia wants to bring in the future.

The presence of the Mazda EZ-60 has the potential to replace the electric car MX-30, which has been discontinued.

In Indonesia, the MX-30 is sold in limited quantities with a price of around IDR 800 million, targeting Mazda fans and enthusiasts.

Then there is also the Toyota bZ3X, a collaboration with GAC. This model uses the Aion V base, which is already sold in Indonesia.

In full, here are three cars from Japanese brands resulting from collaborations with Chinese manufacturers. Some have the potential to be introduced in Indonesia.
