KatadataOTO – The automotive industry has not yet shown satisfactory performance. Especially in the Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) segment.
According to a report from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), the LCGC car market was sluggish again in September 2025.
The data shows that last month only 7,795 four-wheeled vehicles were distributed from factories to dealers (wholesales).
The figure above is a significant correction, down 5.7 percent compared to 8,270 units in August 2025.
On the other hand, the Toyota Calya became the best-selling LCGC car last month. This product recorded 2,523 units.
This allowed the four-wheeled vehicle to overtake the Daihatsu Sigra's sales in September 2025.
Meanwhile, the Honda Brio Satya was right below the Calya. The product from the manufacturer with the upright H logo recorded 1,917 units.
Then, the Daihatsu Sigra was pushed to third place among the best-selling LCGC cars last month. In September 2025, 1,738 units were successfully distributed.
Meanwhile, the Toyota Agya showed a positive contribution. Last month, 818 units were successfully delivered, up from 455 in August 2025.
Finally, the Daihatsu Ayla was at the bottom of the best-selling LCGC cars list in September 2025, as it only recorded 799 units.
The sluggish LCGC car market in the ninth month of 2025 shows that economic conditions in Indonesia have not yet recovered.
Considering these four-wheeled vehicles are quite popular among the lower-middle class in the country.
This indicates that the purchasing power of the lower-middle class for vehicles is severely disrupted.
"Indeed, the public's purchasing power has not returned to normal," said Jongkie Sugiarto, Chairman I of Gaikindo to KatadataOTO, on Monday (14/10)
If this continues in the long term, it is not impossible that the target set by Gaikindo will be difficult to achieve.
