The government expressed its intention to relax TKDN rules in the future, and Chery also commented.
KatadataOTO – President Prabowo Subianto recently revealed his intention to relax the policy regarding TKDN (Local Content Requirement) in various domestic industry sectors.
Prabowo said he has instructed his ministers to make TKDN regulations more flexible for industry players.
Speaking specifically about the automotive sector, there are currently a number of provisions related to TKDN that can make it easier for manufacturers to sell their products at competitive prices.
The relaxation of the TKDN policy is predicted to have many impacts. On one hand, this could attract many new investors to market their products in the country.
In response, PT CSI (Chery Sales Indonesia), which has been locally assembling its vehicle lineup, also spoke out. They claim to be still awaiting further developments on the discourse.
“Usually, there will be implementing instructions (juklak),” said Budi Darmawan, Sales Director of PT CSI, when met in PIK, North Jakarta, on Tuesday (14/04).
It should be noted that Chery's electric car lineup, namely the Omoda E5 and J6, are already locally assembled and enjoy incentives from the government.
He emphasized that the rules regarding local assembly and TKDN are not simple. Therefore, his party will wait for official regulations from the government.
