KatadataOTO – The electric car market seems to be sluggish. As seen from the data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo).
In July 2025, only 5,531 units of Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) were distributed from factories to dealers (wholesales).
Compared to June 2025, there was a significant decrease, reaching 12.2 percent. Because the previous month recorded 6,302 units.
Still in the same data, electric car wholesales in 2025 had experienced an increase in March 2025, reaching 8,850 units.
However, this situation did not last long. A month later, it plummeted again to 7,402 units.
It then dropped again in May 2025 to 6,393 units and continued until July. In total, electric car shipments over these seven months amounted to 42,178 units.
Of course, this condition is quite a concern. Considering that many electric car models and new products are available to consumers in the Indonesian market.
Such as the BYD Atto 1, Aion UT, and the locally assembled Toyota bZ4X. It is hoped that these can entice the public.
On the other hand, wholesales of hybrid cars or Hybrid Electric Vehicles (HEVs) showed a positive performance in July 2025. Recording 6,258 units last month.
The figure above increased by about 4.3 percent compared to June 2025, which was only 5,998 units.
In addition, the number of hybrid car wholesales in July was the highest so far in 2025. Because in previous months, it was around 4,000 units.
