BYD Becomes More Aggressive in the Global Market

In European countries, BYD continues to launch various new models. This includes the Seagull, which is touted as the cheapest EV, with no rivals in its segment yet.

“We have a mission, BYD's best technology and innovation must be able to attract as many consumers in the world as possible,” said Jolin Zhang, Deputy Managing Director of BYD Europe, as reported by the Financial Times on Monday.

He emphasized that the approach to consumers is not only through EVs, but also other environmentally friendly alternatives like PHEVs.

In Indonesia, BYD has offered various models ranging from the Dolphin to the Sealion 7. The premium sub-brand Denza was also brought in, offering the D9 MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) as a challenger to the Toyota Alphard with a price of around IDR 950 million.

BYD's wholesale achievements in the electric car segment are also quite good. Three of its models made it into the top 10, with the Sealion 7 leading in first place with 1,793 units in April 2025.
