3 Chinese Car Brands Begin to Overtake Japanese Popularity in the UK

The homogenization of Chinese cars is increasingly seen as prevalent, offering high technology that doesn't meet consumer needs.
“These cars look feature-rich, but in reality, they are all just imitations wrapped in different exteriors. The technology is the same,” said Lu.
Lu emphasized that competition at this level boils down to a war of prices and technical vehicle specifications.
As a result, the majority of the latest Chinese cars in the Chinese market do not have the specifications needed by consumers, despite being flooded with various advanced features.
In addition, it is mentioned that the protection of property and intellectual rights in China is difficult to enforce.
Lawsuits related to exterior design plagiarism in China are considered subjective. Thus, many cases end amicably or are no longer pursued.
As a result, various manufacturers are said to be more openly plagiarizing exterior designs.
Homogenization among Chinese car models is not a new thing. Various products share a common design language, the most obvious being the through-type or horizontal LED bar or headlight strip on the front of the car.
The features are also not much different. It is hoped that manufacturers can embed systems that are actually needed by drivers, not just a showcase for technology.
Especially for the line of Chinese vehicles exported to other countries like Southeast Asia. Often, sensor features like LiDAR cannot be used to their full potential due to unsuitable road and traffic conditions.
