Growth of Hybrid Cars in Indonesia, PHEV Soaring

Indonesian consumers are increasingly using high-quality oil, which helps reduce exhaust gas emissions.
However, the use of such low-viscosity oil must also be supported by appropriate vehicle specifications and based on manufacturer recommendations.
Therefore, cooperation from various related parties is needed, as well as education for vehicle users in choosing the appropriate lubricant viscosity.
High exhaust emissions, an overheating and noisy engine are some of the impacts that can be experienced by vehicle owners if they use a lubricant with a viscosity that does not meet the specifications.
“The use of low-viscosity oil is proven to improve fuel efficiency,” Motoji emphasized.
Low-viscosity oil is also said to be effective in helping fuel efficiency in hybrid cars.
Motoji further explained that besides helping to reduce emissions, low-viscosity oil also helps the engine run smoother on startup, thereby extending the battery life of a HEV (Hybrid Electric Vehicle).
Furthermore, it improves vehicle acceleration and offers a more comfortable driving experience.
In the future, he believes there is still a need for more intensive education and promotion regarding high-quality lubricants, even though the trend has already begun. Ideally, this should be recommended by automotive manufacturers to consumers.
“The (use of) high-quality oil has started to increase. It is important (for manufacturers) to continue explaining its benefits to consumers,” Motoji emphasized.
Using oil according to its intended purpose and specifications can contribute to supporting the government's commitment to reducing exhaust emissions, especially in Indonesia where the majority of the vehicle population still has gasoline engines.
