KatadataOTO – Renewing a driver's license (SIM) can be done anytime and anywhere. This is because various facilities provided by the Polda Metro Jaya (Metro Jaya Regional Police) can be utilized.

For example, the Jakarta Mobile SIM service is operating today, Monday (13/1). The service can be found at five different locations.

This is done to make it easier for the public to renew this card-shaped driving document.

This is because a driver's license expires five years from the date of issuance. Residents are advised to renew it before the due date.

If you are even one day late, the police will require you to go through the process of issuing a new license at the Satpas Daan Mogot Office, West Jakarta.

The above provision is stated in the National Police Chief Regulation number 5 of 2021 article 4. And Law number 22 of 2009 concerning Road Traffic and Transportation article 85 paragraph 2.

The public can simply visit one of the Jakarta Mobile SIM locations today, such as at Mall Grand Cakung. Then register at the provided counter.

Quoting the @tmcpoldametro Instagram account, the Jakarta Mobile SIM service operates from 08.00-14.00 WIB (Western Indonesia Time). Residents can arrive earlier to avoid queues.

It should be noted that renewing a driver's license cannot be done just like that. There are steps and requirements that need to be followed.

How to Renew a Driver's License

Please note that the Jakarta Mobile SIM service only accepts valid driving documents. If you are even one day late, you will be required to go through the process of creating a new one from scratch.
