KatadataOTO – The operation of freight transport will be restricted during the Christmas and New Year (Nataru) 2025–2026 period. This is being done to ensure smooth travel for the public.

Additionally, this policy aims to reduce the risk of accidents during the Nataru homecoming season. So that people can arrive at their destinations safely.

Reporting from the @korlantaspolri.ntmc Instagram on Thursday (18/12), there are several types of vehicles whose operations will be restricted.

For example, freight vehicles with three or more axles, freight vehicles with trailers, and freight vehicles with articulated trailers.

In addition, there are also freight vehicles used to transport excavated materials, mining products, or building materials.

On the other hand, the police will grant exemptions for certain types of vehicles during Nataru 2025–2026. Such as vehicles transporting fuel oil or gas, cash deliveries, livestock, or fertilizer.

Freight vehicles transporting animal feed are also still permitted. Followed by vehicles for disaster relief purposes, free homecoming and return trip motorcycles, and basic necessities.

“Period 1 on Friday, December 19–Saturday, December 20 from 00:00 to 24:00 local time,” wrote the Korlantas Polri announcement.

Meanwhile, the operational restriction for period two will take place from December 23–28, 2025. Period three from January 02–04, 2026, all from 00:00–24:00 local time.

It is hoped that all parties will comply with this policy. So that the public's homecoming journey can be smoother and safer.

Considering that millions of people will be traveling. From returning to their hometowns to vacationing at tourist spots.

There is a potential for long traffic jams, if the operations of large vehicles are not restricted during the upcoming Nataru holiday period.
