“We hope to be able to hold this Christmas and New Year with zero accidents and zero fatalities,” said Dudy Purwagandhi, Minister of Transportation, as quoted by Antara on Monday (22/12).

The Minister of Transportation directly monitored and ensured the implementation of the restrictions on freight transport vehicles, via the Jasa Marga Tollroad Command Center (JMTC) in Bekasi City, West Java.

He stated that the Ministry of Transportation, together with the National Police Traffic Corps (Korlantas Polri) and the Ministry of Public Works (PU), has issued a Joint Decree (SKB).

It outlines the Regulation of Road Traffic and Crossings During the 2025 Christmas and 2026 New Year Transport Period.

The Joint Decree states that there will be restrictions on freight vehicles with three or more axles.

Also included are freight cars with trailers, articulated trucks, and freight vehicles transporting excavated materials, mining products, and building materials.

However, freight transport carrying fuel (BBM/BBG), cash deliveries, livestock and animal feed, fertilizer, disaster relief, free motorcycle transport, and basic necessities are still allowed to pass.

However, they must meet several requirements. For example, they must be equipped with a consignment note issued by the owner of the goods.

“The consignment note must contain information about the type of goods, the destination, and the owner's address,” Dudy affirmed.

Restrictions Extended to 24 Hours

The Ministry of Transportation and the National Police Traffic Corps have also changed the policy on freight transport restrictions for the 2025–2026 Nataru holiday. It is now in effect for a full 24 hours.
