Jakarta to be Car-Free for Private Vehicles During 2026 New Year's Celebration

KatadataOTO – The Provincial Government (Pemprov) of DKI Jakarta will hold a Car Free Night. This is being done to celebrate New Year 2026.

For this, several preparations have been made, including traffic management in several locations on Wednesday (31/12).

“Indeed, we will start managing traffic at several points from 06:00 PM,” said Pramono Anung, Governor of DKI Jakarta, to Antara.

According to Pramono, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will close a number of main roads because there are several activities to welcome the new year today.

Therefore, people who wish to attend can no longer use private motorcycles and cars.

“Everyone is expected to use public transportation,” continued Pramono.

For your information, the traffic flow closure is planned to start from the Patung Kuda area to the Senayan Roundabout.

This is because entertainment stages will be set up at that location to welcome the turn of the year.

The DKI Jakarta Provincial Government will place entertainment stages in several locations, such as Lapangan Banteng, Bundaran HI, Thamrin, Sarinah, Dukuh Atas, FX Sudirman, Semanggi, and the SCBD area.

Meanwhile, at Bundaran HI, there will be the main stage for the New Year 2026 celebration. It is reported that it will be attended by the Governor and Deputy Governor of DKI Jakarta along with the Regional Secretary.

On the other hand, public transportation services in Jakarta, including the Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) Jakarta, will operate until 02:00 AM WIB on New Year's Eve 2026.

So the public can use the facilities that have been provided and no longer use private transportation during the 2026 New Year's Eve celebration.

Parking Areas Provided

To facilitate the public, the DKI Jakarta Provincial Government has also provided parking areas along Jalan Sudirman–Jalan MH. Thamrin.
