The Denza D9 is a luxurious electric MPV that challenges the Toyota Alphard. Here's KatadataOTO's first impression review.

Katadata OTO Rating:

Comfortable cabin, very soundproof

The second-row seat feature settings were confusing at first.

The second-row seats are the highlight. They are captain seats, electrically adjustable, and their features can be controlled via a small screen on the armrest of each passenger seat.

This screen can also be used to adjust the lighting in the cabin, offering optimal illumination according to the passenger's needs.

Above the first row, there is a sunroof with glass that can be opened. Meanwhile, a 1.1 m2 panoramic roof is located behind it, stretching all the way to the back.

Not to forget, there is a small refrigerator in the center console that can cool food or drinks. But uniquely, it can also be used to warm food up to 50 degrees Celsius.

The audio sector is supported by a 14-speaker Dynaudio HiFi Audio System. Spread evenly throughout the cabin, it makes the driving experience more enjoyable with entertainment like music.

Driving Sensation

We tried the Denza D9 as a passenger in the second row. Due to the limited area, the acceleration and differences between driving modes could not be fully felt.

However, when going over roads in poor condition, the Denza D9's suspension was very helpful in dampening bumps in the cabin. So our comfort was maintained.

This is supported by the use of a MacPherson Strut suspension in the front and a Multi-link Rear Suspension.

Then, the cabin's soundproofing felt excellent. External noise was well suppressed, and furthermore, this electric car does not produce the loud noise of a conventional car.

The soundproofing of this luxury MPV's cabin is also supported by the use of Double Layered Soundproof Glass.

Conclusion

The Denza D9 has various advantages compared to other models in the same class. In the Indonesian market, there is only one direct BEV (Battery Electric Vehicle) competitor, the Zeekr 009, which is part of the Geely Group.

However, in terms of price, the Denza D9 is competitive as it is offered for under IDR 1 billion, while the Zeekr 009 is in the range of IDR 2 billion and above.

Not only does it offer an elegant exterior design, but its cabin is also crafted to prioritize passenger comfort. The captain seats in the second row accommodate a comfortable seating position.

However, a note for us is that the numerous feature controls packed into the second-row seat screens can be quite confusing.
