Testing the maximum capabilities of all Yamaha Aerox Alpha variants at the Sentul Karting Circuit, Bogor, West Java
Accompanied by a YRA (Yamaha Riding Academy) instructor, the line began to enter the karting circuit area. We were guided to ride at a moderate speed while learning the braking points and the racing line.
The Sentul Karting Circuit itself was not in prime condition. The asphalt surface was bumpy, with several patches made of concrete visible in some sectors.
Entering the second lap, the motorcycle could finally be pushed to its maximum. Being at the front of the line, participants were warned not to overtake the Road Captain (RC).
However, the RC's speed and riding technique were above average. As a result, several media members were left far behind several times.
Speaking of handling, the Yamaha Aerox Alpha Turbo indeed has capable abilities. Not only does its sporty shape support maneuvering, but the YECVT technology also assists with braking.
The motorcycle's front suspension has undergone significant changes. Because the tube diameter size increased from 26 mm to 30 mm.
The turbo variant itself already applies a canister-type rear shock absorber. So its performance remains stable when pushed for several laps.
The riding position of the Yamaha Aerox is different from other Maxi Family models. Besides the handlebars being narrower than the Nmax, the body is also positioned in a slight crouch.
Therefore, testing the Yamaha Aerox Alpha at the Sentul Karting circuit was a fitting location. The motorcycle seemed to have found its natural habitat.
After completing three laps, we switched motorcycles. KatadataOTO got to try the Standard variant.
The YECVT system is not available on the Cyber City version. So we had to rely entirely on the brakes.
Being on the Karting circuit which is full of turns. We felt there was no need for maximum braking.
Even using the drum rear brake felt sufficient to accelerate again on the straightaways.
The 155.09 cc engine with VVA (Variable Valve Actuation) technology on the Yamaha Aerox Alpha feels adequate in meeting needs. On every lap, the motorcycle's engine power remained consistent, making us confident to hit the gas.
