KatadataOTO – Retail car sales as of April 2025 experienced a decline compared to the previous month. This is believed to be the effect of the Eid holiday period.

Based on data from Gaikindo (Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries) received by KatadataOTO, the wholesale figure for April 2025 was 51,205 units, down 27.8 percent from March's 70,895 units.

In the top 10, only BYD recorded an increase in wholesale figures (distribution from factory to dealer) of 9.1 percent, reaching 3,496 units from March's achievement of 3,205 units.

The same goes for retail sales (dealer to consumer). BYD recorded a 23 percent increase compared to March, from 2,870 units to 3,531 units this month.

Overall, car wholesales from January-April 2025 were 256,368 units. Meanwhile, retail sales were higher at 267,514 units.

In terms of retail sales, Toyota still maintains the first position, distributing 86,908 units to consumers throughout 2025. Daihatsu followed below with 46,718 units.

Honda ranked third by selling 29,215 vehicles in the January-April 2025 period.

Chinese manufacturer, BYD still maintains its position above Hyundai and distributed 8,894 vehicles to consumers this year. Hyundai recorded a result of 8,211 units.

In April, Wuling managed to overtake Denza again with 1,293 units. Meanwhile, Denza had to settle for 10th place with retail sales of 847 units.

Chery, which was ranked 10th in March 2025, rose to overtake Wuling, taking the eighth position with 1,549 units.
