KatadataOTO – Wholesales (distribution from factory to dealer) of electric cars in Indonesia as of April 2025 were dominated by Chinese brands.

BYD once again took first place with its newest model, the Sealion 7. Throughout April, its wholesales reached 1,793 units.

Previously, first place was held by the Denza D9 with 1,587 units. However, the premium MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) dropped to fifth place with 811 units.

The affordable MPV from BYD still maintained its second position, contributing 1,257 units to wholesales. However, this achievement was down from last month's 1,293 units.

Chery's electric car wholesales were supported by their most popular model, the J6 offroad SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle). The AWD (All Wheel Drive) variant was the best-seller, recording 711 wholesale units, while the RWD (Rear Wheel Drive) type had 199 units.

The Geely EX5 debuted in the top 10 for the first time, distributing 424 units to dealers in April 2025.

The compact electric car, Wuling Air ev, achieved satisfactory results in April 2025. Its wholesales increased from 472 units in March to 551 units.

The top 10 best-selling electric cars were all filled by Chinese brands. South Korean manufacturer, Hyundai, which briefly entered the top 10 in February 2025, has not managed to climb back up.

Processed from Gaikindo (Association of Indonesia Automotive Industries) data, Hyundai's electric car wholesales for models like the Ioniq 5 were 50 units, while the Kona EV had 27 units.

In full, here is KatadataOTO's summary of the 10 best-selling electric cars in Indonesia for April 2025. As a note, these figures represent wholesales, not retail (dealer to consumer).
