2024 Electric Car Sales in Indonesia, BYD M6 Most in Demand

KatadataOTO – Although it was only launched a few months ago, the BYD M6 has successfully become the best-selling electric car in Indonesia. This is proven by its wholesale figures, which reached 6,125 units.

This figure is quite high compared to the second position occupied by the Wuling BinguoEV, which only managed to sell 5,156 units throughout 2024. Then, the third position is filled by the BYD Seal with 4,828 units.

The Wuling Air ev is in fourth position with wholesale figures of 4,440 units. Meanwhile, the Chery Omoda E5 follows behind it with 4,425 units.

In sixth position is the Wuling Cloud EV with 3,521 units, followed by the BYD Atto 3 in seventh place with sales of 3,291 units. The shipment of the MG4 EV from the factory to dealers was also quite large, at 2,340 units throughout the year.

The Hyundai Ioniq 5 and Hyundai Kona Electric ranked ninth and tenth. They sold 1,561 units and 1,196 units, respectively.

BYD also became the manufacturer with the largest electric vehicle sales in Indonesia, having sold 15,429 units. That number is 2,312 units ahead of the second position, which recorded a figure of 13,117 units.

Meanwhile, Chery is in third position after shipping 5,010 vehicles to dealers. Then, in fourth position is MG, which recorded sales of 3,193 units.

Hyundai closes out the top five, having recorded sales of 2,806 units. The total electric car sales in Indonesia for 2024 is 43,193 units.

The high number of electric car sales throughout 2024 is inseparable from the government's role in providing various conveniences to the public. Interestingly, these incentives will be continued, so it is hoped that this positive record will be achieved again.

Moreover, several new manufacturers have confirmed they will enter Indonesia. They plan to introduce a variety of vehicle options, including ICE, so that the public can have more choices than they do now.
