KatadataOTO – Throughout 2024, wholesales (distribution from factory to dealer) of hybrid cars increased and successfully reached 57,723 units.

There are several driving factors, one of which is competitive pricing and the availability of many options, especially in the MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) segment.

Compared to last year's achievement, hybrid car wholesales grew by 5,145 units. In 2023, the figure was 52,568 units.

Processed from Gaikindo (Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries) data, Toyota recorded the highest wholesales among other brands with 35,239 units. The largest contributor was the Innova Zenix Hybrid (26,470 units).

Next is Suzuki, with a total of 14,316 units from two models, namely the XL7 Hybrid and Ertiga Hybrid. Both are equipped with mild hybrid technology and are sold at competitive prices in the Rp 200 million to Rp 300 million range.

The lineup of luxury MPVs from Toyota and Lexus also recorded good results. For example, the Toyota Alphard with 3,838 units and the Lexus LM 350h 7-seater with 1,157 units.

In 2025, a number of hybrid cars will still be coming to liven up the market. The stimulus in the form of a three percent incentive makes manufacturers interested in marketing HEVs (Hybrid Electric Vehicles) to domestic consumers.

The incentive has the potential to push down hybrid car prices, making them more competitive. Toyota claims this assistance will directly affect the OTR (On The Road) price of the models they register for the program.
