In the first quarter of 2025, car sales in Indonesia experienced a significant decline compared to the same period last year.
Based on Gaikindo data, retail sales from January to March 2025 were only 210,483 units. This figure is a decrease of 20,544 units from the 231,027 units in the first three months of 2024.
Pressure was also seen in wholesale sales, as the figures were not very encouraging. From January to March 2025, only 205,160 units were recorded.
Meanwhile, in the same period of 2024, the result was higher at 215,250 units. This means there was a decrease of 10,090 units.
This situation is expected to improve in the next quarter, especially since there are still several brands that will enter the country.
