KatadataOTO – Aion is showing its seriousness in working on the Indonesian market. Because they will soon produce vehicles at a new factory in the country.
Then the production facility will be ready to assemble Aion electric cars.
“Starting March 2025, but that's just a trial. Then it will ramp up; production can't be high immediately but will slowly increase,” said Andry Ciu, CEO of Aion Indonesia in Yogyakarta on Tuesday (4/2).
He stated that for the first opportunity, they will start by assembling the Aion V electric car first.
“Because public enthusiasm for the Aion V is quite good, we are moving the production process forward,” he continued.
According to Andry Ciu, this EV (Electric Vehicle) was actually supposed to be assembled in July 2025. However, because consumer interest is high, it was moved up.
Then in the first semester, there are still a number of other models that will be made locally by them.
“In May 2025 we will start with the Hyptec HT. As for the Aion Y Plus, it will follow in June,” said Andry Ciu.
As a reminder, the Aion factory is located in the Dawuan industrial area, Cikampek, West Java.
It has a fairly large production capacity. Capable of making up to 50 thousand units of environmentally friendly four-wheeled vehicles in one year.
“We are arranging the schedule, people from China will come for the ribbon cutting. The plan is for either next month or April 2025 after Eid,” Andry Ciu affirmed.
Meanwhile, for the next two years, Aion is still focused on meeting the TKDN (Local Component Level) of 40 percent.
Only after that, the above figure will be increased. To about 60 percent the following year.
It should be noted, the Aion factory in Cikampek will be the backbone for making right-hand drive products.
Assisted by production facilities in Thailand. So both places will assemble different electric cars.
That way, the electric four-wheeled vehicles produced are expected to meet the needs of consumers in the country as well as a number of neighboring countries.
“We have plans to export to several countries where Aion cars are not yet available. The closest example is Australia,” concluded Andry Ciu.
Indonesia itself is seen as a strategic location to expand Aion's market in the Southeast Asian region and other places.
