KatadataOTO – The presence of the BYD factory is eagerly awaited by many people. Because it is believed to bring various positive impacts.
The latest news comes from the construction process of the production facility owned by the brand from China.
“Several factories have committed to be built. BYD is already 90 percent complete, with an investment of IDR 11.2 trillion,” said Airlangga Hartarto, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs at the Opening of the Kadin National Leadership Meeting, quoted from a Kadin Indonesia YouTube video on Thursday (04/11).
Of course, the update on the construction of BYD's production facility is a breath of fresh air. It's a sign that they are getting closer to producing electric cars locally.
So it can absorb a lot of labor. Especially the community in the Subang area, West Java, and its surroundings.
“The production capacity (of the BYD factory) is 150,000 per year,” continued the aide to President Prabowo Subianto.
For your information, the construction process of the BYD factory in Subang Smartpolitan has been underway for some time.
According to reports, BYD is finalizing coordination with various parties. Such as the Ministry of Industry (Kemenperin).
“For now, we have entered the final stage, because we have received an audit from BKPM,” said Luther T. Panjaitan, Head of Public and Government Relations at BYD Motor Indonesia at GJAW 2025.
So the production process for the BYD Atto 1, Dolphin, Seal, and Sealion 7 can proceed after the factory in Subang is established.
He also hopes that all ongoing processes can proceed smoothly without significant obstacles.
Because the BYD factory is expected to start producing Electric Vehicles (EVs) in the near future.
“Now the final stage process is starting, it should be smooth. It will all start in the first quarter of 2026,” Luther affirmed.
Of course, this step is in line with the increasing demand for BYD electric cars. Especially in Indonesia, which continues to show growth.
Therefore, BYD is committed to completing the factory's establishment. Then operate early next year.
“Currently, everything is on track, we will announce it immediately after everything is complete. We are very confident that in the first quarter we can immediately utilize that facility,” he concluded.
The existence of the BYD factory in the country is indeed very important. Considering their sales in the national market average 10 thousand per month.
Automatically, the presence of this production facility is believed to be able to meet all consumer demands.
