KatadataOTO – Aito is one of the electric car sub-brands that was present in Indonesia at the GIIAS 2024 event.

It should be noted that Aito is a brand acquired by DFSK Seres. Currently in Indonesia, they sell a line of vehicles under the auspices of PT Sokonindo Automobile.

Appearing as an Aito M9 prototype at the Seres booth, this Electric Vehicle (EV) is rumored to be offered to Indonesian consumers in the near future.

Interestingly, three products from Aito will participate in a road tour from Chongqing, China to Jakarta as a celebration of 75 years of Indonesia-China relations.

“There will be a big welcome later on August 25, 2025, in Indonesia,” said Garibaldi ‘Boy’ Thohir, Chairman of the Indonesian Chamber of Commerce and Industry's China Committee (KIKT), as quoted by Antara on Friday (08/08).

The tour is titled Open the Way with Aito. The route taken from Chongqing will pass through ASEAN countries with a total distance of about 5,000 kilometers.

“This is also an example of the Silk Road from Chongqing to Indonesia, and secondly, of course, in this activity, I want to attract the attention of young people,” said Boy.

Later, the three Aito electric car models that will join the tour are the Aito M5, M7, and M9.

It should be noted that the Aito M9 has been displayed in Indonesia before. But at that time, Seres was still tight-lipped about the launch date and any price leaks.

However, the organization of the Open the Way with Aito tour is one of the signals that Aito will be present in the country soon.

“That signifies that this industry will enter Indonesia, produce in Indonesia for the ASEAN market. Therefore, the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing fully supports it,” said Djauhari Oratmangun, Indonesian Ambassador to China and Mongolia, on the same occasion.

He emphasized that Indonesia already has the materials needed to produce electric car components such as batteries.

“For that reason, we welcome the presence of the electric vehicle industry in Indonesia, and China is now also the main producer of electric vehicles in the world,” Djauhari affirmed.

For your information, Seres in the country is currently present with DFSK, offering both passenger and commercial vehicle models.

The Chinese brand focuses on offering environmentally friendly vehicles. Starting from the Gelora E, the compact EV Seres E1, to the Seres 3, whose price was just announced at GIIAS 2025.
