KatadataOTO – PT Aletra Mobil Nusantara is partnering with battery company Zhejiang Yeoning Technology Group as the provider of the latest generation LFP (Lithium Iron Phosphate) battery for the electric car model Aletra L8s, namely the Short Blade Battery.

It should be noted that the Aletra L8s is the highest trim of the L8 MPV (Multi Purpose Vehicle) which debuted at GJAW 2024. The lower variants still use batteries from Gotion.

The L8 itself is a product of the Geely Group, based on the Livan Maple 80v, but has been further developed to suit the needs of the Indonesian market and consumers.

“In 2026, the local content target is above 40 percent. So this is how we explore that cooperation,” said Andre Jodjana, CEO of Aletra in South Jakarta, Monday (13/1).

For the long-term plan, they will also study the possibility of local battery assembly. This could potentially change the OTR (On The Road) price tag in the future.

Although the collaboration is currently claimed not to change the offered selling price, there are several advantages to this generation of battery embedded in the Aletra L8s, especially in terms of safety.

The battery components have undergone a number of tests to check the safety level in various conditions. For example, the battery was pierced with eight nails, which is stricter than standard testing procedures.

“So it's not just its compact form but it has many benefits, being smaller. Then it's bulletproof; the battery is so safe that when tested by being shot, it was safe, did not catch fire, explode, or smoke,” explained Christo Antyo, Product Manager of Aletra on the same occasion.
