KatadataOTO – The Daihatsu Rocky has been officially launched in Indonesia. The environmentally friendly car is claimed to have received a positive reception.
Astra Daihatsu Motor (ADM) admits that many people want to own the four-wheeled vehicle with a hybrid powertrain.
"The public's enthusiasm is also very good. We will introduce the (Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid) in other cities," said Sri Agung Handayani, Marketing Director and Corporate Communication Director of ADM in Jakarta, Friday (22/08).
She also expressed her happiness that domestic consumers are interested in purchasing this Daihatsu hybrid car.
For that reason, the Japanese manufacturer is starting to consider assembling the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid locally.
"We are currently conducting a study, it takes some time. Just wait and see whether we will continue with CBU or assemble it locally," continued Agung.
Looking at it, the opportunity for the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid to be assembled domestically is wide open. Considering its gasoline engine version is already produced in Indonesia.
Additionally, the conventional Daihatsu Rocky already has a Local Component Level (TKDN) of 70 percent.
Furthermore, Agung had also previously stated that the Daihatsu factory in Karawang is ready to produce an electrification line.
"As our commitment in manufacturing, we have also prepared to produce hybrid and electric cars in the future," said Agung on a separate occasion.
Then, seeing the positive response from consumers, the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid has a long waiting list, extending until next year.
Therefore, if the hybrid car is made in Karawang, West Java, it will cut down the consumer waiting time.
However, it has not been explained whether the price of the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid will be adjusted or not once it has Completely Knocked Down (CKD) status.
For your information, the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid is currently still fully imported or CBU from Japan, marketed at a price of IDR 299.8 million On The Road (OTR) Jakarta.
It is worth noting that the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid carries a 1,200 cc mechanical heart with the code WA-VEX, combined with a 0.76 kWh capacity battery.
This power is then channeled to an electric motor capable of releasing a maximum power of 104 hp and a maximum torque of 170 Nm.
Thanks to this configuration, the Daihatsu Rocky Hybrid can accelerate to 100 km per hour in just 10 seconds from a standstill.
To support passenger safety, Daihatsu has embedded Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Consisting of Collision Warning & Avoidance Assist Brake to Lane/Roadside Departure Warning & Lane Departure Prevention Control.
