KatadataOTO – The discussion about the national car is still a hot topic. One of the highly anticipated products is the Pindad Maung.

The ministers of President Prabowo Subianto have also stated they are ready to use the four-wheeled vehicle as their official car.

“If the Minister of State Secretariat gives me an official car tomorrow, I will use it immediately. I don't care what color it is, the most important thing is that the brand is Maung,” said Bahlil Lahadalia, Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM), on the State Secretariat Ministry's YouTube channel, Tuesday (28/10).

Furthermore, Bahlil admitted he would be very happy to use the Pindad Maung for official purposes while serving President Prabowo.

Especially since he had previously used the car during the ESDM anniversary celebration some time ago. Bahlil admitted to feeling dashing when riding the Maung.

Therefore, Bahlil Lahadalia wants to rely on the Pindad Maung as his official car while serving as the Minister of ESDM.

“We must be proud of our domestic products. We must be proud of our domestic companies,” concluded Bahlil.

As previously reported, President Prabowo Subianto plans to create a national car. The number one person in Indonesia wants to realize it in the next three years.

He even revealed that the government has prepared a budget allocation and land for the construction of a factory that will produce domestic vehicles.

"So now our officials and officers will not use jeeps made by other countries but will use vehicles made in Indonesia," said the President on a separate occasion.

President Prabowo also conveyed that the use of these vehicles should be widely implemented within government and military circles.

"Soon, you all must use the Maung, I don't want to hear any excuses. Use your nice cars only on holidays," Prabowo asserted.

Becoming a National Strategic Project

On the other hand, Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, the Minister of Industry, proposed that the national car program be designated as a national strategic project (PSN).

If this happens, the dream of having a four-wheeled vehicle with a national brand will become more certain.

Therefore, in the future, it is not impossible that the roads in Indonesia will be dominated by national cars.

"We certainly support it and have already proposed the national car program to be a PSN. Once it is, everything will be prepared,” said Agus.

He also explained that if the national car is made a PSN, the project can proceed faster than before.
