According to Agung, battery warranties on EV products could potentially confuse used electric vehicle buyers.

KatadataOTO – Electric cars are starting to be seen more frequently on the roads. Various products are offered to consumers in Indonesia.
This has led people to buy various environmentally friendly vehicles. However, over time, used electric cars have started to appear.
This has reportedly caused controversy for used four-wheeled vehicles. Especially regarding the warranty for EV (Electric Vehicle) batteries.
“For example, a free lifetime warranty for the first 500 people, then the 501st or 502nd person doesn't get it. Well, this creates complexity in the used market,” said Agung Iskandar, Director of OLXmobbi, during a Forwot (Automotive Journalists Forum) discussion titled 'Automotive Financing Opportunities' on Friday (24/1).
Agung explained that there are a number of electric car products that do not get a guarantee from the manufacturers.
Especially for electric four-wheeled vehicles that have been on the market for the last three to four years.
“Like in 2022, there were the Wuling Air ev and Hyundai Ioniq 5. At that time, there was no lifetime warranty for consumers,” said Agung.
This will make people who intend to buy an electric car think twice. Considering the battery price is quite expensive.
If it gets damaged during use, it forces the owner to spend a considerable amount of money to repair it.
“My advice is for car owners or sellers to be wise when offering the vehicle,” Agung affirmed.
Agung also advises EV users to perform regular maintenance. And to maintain all guarantees from the manufacturer.
So when you want to sell it, the price of your electric four-wheeled vehicle will not plummet. It can be offered at a higher price.
Just as a reminder, manufacturers do provide battery warranties for their electric cars. However, the forms vary.
Take the Wuling Binguo EV for example, it is equipped with a lifetime battery warranty. This guarantee is provided to give consumers a sense of security and comfort.
Meanwhile, the Neta V is also marketed with a lifetime guarantee. Not limited by a certain number of kilometers or a specific period.
The warranty from the Chinese manufacturer covers the battery, drive motor, and control distribution system.
However, there are a number of conditions that must be met, such as not for commercial use, and first ownership according to the STNK (Vehicle Registration Certificate) and BPKB (Vehicle Ownership Book).
In addition, you must follow the regular maintenance schedule. If all conditions are met, then you will receive the lifetime battery warranty.
