KatadataOTO – Several brands in Indonesia exclusively market electric cars for domestic consumers. Examples include BYD, Denza, and Polytron.

In October 2025, overall new car sales experienced a rapid increase of 17.2 percent compared to the previous month.

Interestingly, BYD contributed a significant number. Gaikindo's retail data (delivery from dealers to consumers) shows that BYD's sales reached 9,732 units.

The compact electric car, BYD Atto 1, is believed to be the main driver. The model, which debuted at GIIAS 2025, is offered starting from only Rp 190 million.

In second place is GAC Aion with 442 units. Meanwhile, Denza, which only sells one product, the D9, distributed 330 units throughout October 2025.

Other manufacturers from China, such as Xpeng, also experienced a positive trend. Their retail car sales increased from 80 units to 104 units.

Two products are offered: the Multi-Purpose Vehicle (MPV) X9 and the Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) G6. They are still fully imported, but the X9 is a top priority for local assembly in the country.

Then, a new name like Polytron appears. The model is offered at a competitive price and aims to target more consumers.

Similar to Vinfast, Polytron electric car owners can choose to buy the unit including the battery or subscribe.

If you buy the Polytron G3 or G3+ with a subscription, the price is Rp 299 million to Rp 339 million, plus a rental fee of Rp 1.2 million.

Meanwhile, the Polytron G3 including the battery is sold for Rp 419 million to Rp 459 million on the road in Jakarta.
