KatadataOTO – The reception for the Atto 1 has been very good in Indonesia. This electric car has become a new favorite for the people in the country.
In fact, high demand for the Electric Vehicle (EV) is predicted to continue until the end of 2025.
“To this day, I see the sales increase progress is relatively the same,” said Luther T. Panjaitan, Head of Public and Government Relations at BYD Motor Indonesia, at GJAW 2025.
Luther also expressed his happiness over the success of the BYD Atto 1. Because it can be a new choice for people in the country.
He said there are several factors why the BYD Atto 1 has become a new favorite. For example, consumers in Indonesia are starting to trust it after seeing the electric car directly on the road.
“Recently, dealers have been saying there are even more. Because people have seen it, maybe experienced it directly, or have been to the dealer,” Luther continued.
Demand for the BYD Atto 1 is predicted to remain positive. It is expected to gather many orders in December 2025.
Especially now with the GJAW 2025 exhibition being held. It makes the public even more curious about the BYD electric car.
“So we are confident this will go on for much longer. Not just because there is a backlog (of orders),” Luther affirmed.
As a reminder, in November 2025 the price of the lowest BYD Atto 1 type was raised by around Rp 4 million. From Rp 195 million to Rp 199 million.
According to Luther, this happened due to several things. Such as the rupiah exchange rate against foreign currencies.
In addition, Luther revealed that the product's price at the beginning of its launch was indeed positioned as an introductory price.
As the market response increased, BYD conducted a thorough evaluation. This is to strengthen the service infrastructure.
Starting from expanding the dealer network, improving after-sales services, to the readiness of unit distribution amidst the long queue of orders.
“The essence of all this is indeed due to significant demand, so that we can provide consistent service,” he continued.
It should be noted, according to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), in October 2025, the small electric car was successfully distributed from the factory to dealers (wholesales) totaling 9,396 units.
