KatadataOTO – Not long after its launch, the BYD Atto 1 has achieved success. Especially in the sluggish Indonesian four-wheeled vehicle market.
According to data from the Association of Indonesian Automotive Industries (Gaikindo), in October 2025, the compact electric car was successfully distributed from factory to dealer (wholesales) with a total of 9,396 units.
This figure made the BYD Atto 1 the best-selling car in the country last month. A quite positive achievement.
Moreover, the number above contributed about 88.7 percent of BYD's total wholesales throughout October 2025. This is because last month, the Chinese brand distributed 10,593 Electric Vehicles (EVs).
In addition, the wholesales of the BYD Atto 1 still have the potential to increase. Considering this electric car is claimed to have many enthusiasts.
Then there is the GJAW 2025 event which will take place at ICE BSD, Tangerang from November 21-30.
As a result, the waiting time or indent period was long. So BYD is still trying to meet consumer demand in the country.
On the other hand, the success of the BYD Atto 1 in attracting many orders has had an impact on the domestic Low Cost Green Car (LCGC) market.
As previously reported by KatadataOTO, the market performance of LCGC products is still far from expectations.
Gaikindo recorded wholesales of four-wheeled vehicles in the LCGC segment at only 8,505 units throughout October 2025.
This is proof that the presence of the BYD Atto 1 in Indonesia is able to attract many consumers, especially first-time car buyers.
This is because this particular BYD electric car is sold at a very competitive price, with the cheapest starting from Rp 195 million.
It should be noted that the majority of LCGC cars are priced below Rp 200 million. Thus, the arrival of the BYD Atto 1 provides a new option for consumers.
It's no wonder that many people are flocking to buy the electric four-wheeled vehicle.
And it was able to shake up the domestic LCGC car market. Resulting in a correction in September and August 2025.
"LCGC is also affected by the entry of new brands or models," said Jongkie Sugiarto, Chairman I of Gaikindo to KatadataOTO some time ago.
Jongkie stated that new products, especially those with very low prices entering the Indonesian market, are eroding the LCGC segment.
Because it is able to encourage people to turn away from the Daihatsu Sigra, Toyota Calya, and others.
