KatadataOTO – The electric car BYD Atto 3 is rumored to be getting several updates in its home country. This includes an increased battery capacity to 78.8 kWh, offering a range of 650 kilometers on a single charge.

This figure is an increase of 170 kilometers from the previous BYD Atto 3's range. Its highest variant could be driven for 480 kilometers on a single charge.

However, the battery material for the BYD Atto 3 remains the same, Lithium Ferro Phosphate or LFP from BYD's Blade Battery production.

The overall dimensions or size remain the same with a length of 4,455 mm, width of 1,875 mm, height of 1,615 mm, and a wheelbase of 2,720 mm.

However, due to the increased battery capacity, the weight of the newest BYD Atto 3 is heavier, now at 1,880 kilograms.

For comparison, the model's previous weight was in the range of 1,625 kilograms to 1,690 kilograms.

Quoted from Carnewschina, data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) of China shows that not only is the battery changing, but the BYD Atto 3's electric motor will also be more powerful.

The compact Sport Utility Vehicle (SUV) will use an electric motor with the code TZ200XYC, producing 230 kW or the equivalent of 308 hp. Meanwhile, its maximum speed is 180 km/h.

Speaking of the exterior design, no major updates are visible on the unit registered with the MIIT. However, it is mentioned that the 18-inch wheel design is sportier.

Then, the charging socket position, which was previously on the front right, has been moved to the rear right area of the car, similar to the placement of a gas tank in a conventional car.

Then there is the addition of the God’s Eye Advanced Driver Assistance System (ADAS) safety feature, supported by 29 sensors including a High Definition (HD) camera and 12 ultrasonic radar points.

However, there is no detailed information yet about the price and when the new version of the BYD Atto 3 will be sold to Indonesian consumers.

However, local Chinese media predict that the price increase will not be too significant and will still be able to reach many consumers.
