MG Sets Modest Sales Targets for 2026

KatadataOTO – BYD Harmony Slipi was just inaugurated in a quite strategic area. This is because it is close to a number of public facilities.
It is also flanked by office buildings. Furthermore, there are also several campuses near the Slipi area, West Jakarta.
“This location is very strategic because it is surrounded by national-scale campuses. There are Trisakti University, Tarumanagara to Bina Nusantara, you could say they are students who have the capacity to buy an EV (Electric Vehicle),” said Suwandy, Country GM of BYD Harmony Auto Indonesia, on Wednesday (15/1).
He further stated that they are indeed targeting students as consumers for BYD Harmony Slipi.
Moreover, there are a number of supporting factors. Such as being close to Jakarta's odd-even traffic zone.
This opens up opportunities for students to purchase BYD's electric car lineup, so they can avoid that policy.
“So that is one of their considerations for switching four-wheeled vehicles (from conventional models to EVs),” he continued.
Then, regarding the costs, it is also considered economical when using an electric car. So it can be very helpful for the students who use them.
Suwandy did not deny that many students have become their consumers recently.
This is because the target segment set by BYD Harmony is quite broad, from young people to consumers in their 50s.
“According to our survey yesterday, approximately 15 to 20 percent of our consumers are students,” he said.
Then there are a number of flagship products that are popular among young people. For example, female buyers prefer the BYD Dolphin.
“Meanwhile, for men, some like the BYD Seal or Atto 3. The percentage is quite evenly distributed (for each model),” said Suwandy.
On the other hand, BYD Harmony Slipi is equipped with AC and DC type charging facilities. So customers don't have to worry about running out of battery.
Moreover, consumers can come directly to this dealership and charge their vehicles without being charged any fee.
“As long as they bring a BYD car, they are free to enjoy our charging,” said Suwandy.
However, this program is not valid forever. Customers can only charge their BYD Seal and other models for free for just three months.
