KatadataOTO – After launching many interesting products, BYD wants to bring autonomous vehicle technology to affordable cars. This is demonstrated by the launch of the God’s Eye system, which will be embedded in 21 models in China.

The technology will even equip the BYD Seagull, despite its price of less than USD 10,000 or around IDR 163.85 million.

However, this does not mean that autonomous car technology will be applied to just any model. Wang Chuanfu, CEO of BYD, revealed that the company will offer several versions of the God’s Eye technology with different levels.

Reported by Carscoops, BYD will install God’s Eye C, the most basic level, in cars under IDR 163 million. With this, customers will only get 12 cameras and 17 different radar sensors.

Although it is the lowest level, the sensors can detect the presence of other objects up to 300 meters away.

Meanwhile, God’s Eye B is equipped with more mature technology as it includes a Lidar sensor. Thanks to this, it is easier for the driver to maintain the vehicle's safety.

It is reported that God’s Eye B will only be installed on several high-end cars, Denza and Fang Cheng Bao.

Meanwhile, the top version is God’s Eye A, which is equipped with three Lidar sensors. This technology is reportedly going to be embedded in the Yangwang U9, their flagship sports car.

In the video shown, the car can drive autonomously at high speed on a circuit.

Still reported by Carscoops, the God’s Eye C system will only be able to assist the driver in certain road conditions, such as on highways. Meanwhile, God’s Eye A and B can be used for driving on public roads.

However, it is believed that the God’s Eye A and B technologies cannot yet be implemented optimally. This is due to the many challenges on the road, requiring more development in the future.

Especially in Indonesia, where drivers are considered to be undisciplined in traffic. The application of autonomous car technology will certainly be a challenge that will take time to implement.
