KatadataOTOBYD Seagull is the talk of the town in Indonesia. The electric car is rumored to be launching soon.

BYD Indonesia has responded to the circulating rumors about their new prospective electric vehicle (EV).

The brand from China then signaled that the BYD Seagull will be launched at the Gaikindo Indonesia International Auto Show (GIIAS) 2025.

"Just pray for it (the BYD Seagull launch). At the GIIAS 2025 event, we might optimize it," said Luther T. Panjaitan, Head of Public and Government Relations of PT BYD Motor Indonesia in Pluit, Penjaringan, North Jakarta today, Tuesday (10/06).

According to Luther, GIIAS 2025 is one of the largest automotive exhibitions in the country.

Therefore, they intend to bring a number of new products for visitors at ICE BSD, Tangerang.

"Most likely one of them (BYD Seagull). But we can't confirm yet, just wait for the news," he continued.

Indeed, there were previous reports that the BYD Seagull was intended to be marketed to consumers in Indonesia.

There are even some salespeople who have already started taking pre-orders for the new BYD electric car.

However, Luther was still reluctant to provide more detailed information about the BYD Seagull that will soon be on sale.

Including the price for this particular EV. So consumers will have to be a little patient.

"It's true that rumors are circulating, anything can still happen. But we are working on it," Luther affirmed.

As a reminder, some time ago BYD confirmed it would once again expand its line of environmentally friendly four-wheeled vehicles.

One of which is by launching the BYD Seagull. It is touted to be a competitively priced electric car.

If these rumors are true, then this Chinese manufacturer can expand its portfolio in the country's automotive industry.

"BYD is one of the most complete electric car manufacturers, from entry-level to premium. But there is indeed a market that we feel has the opportunity to experience EVs at an even more affordable price," said Luther

This rumor grew stronger after BYD was known to have registered the Dolphin Mini, also known as the Seagull, with the Intellectual Property Database (PDKI).

Additionally, on the Samsat-PKB website, models with the codes EQ-ETD-1 (4X2) AT and EQ-STD-1 (4X2) AT, believed to be the BYD Seagull, have also been registered.
