KatadataOTO – The BYD Seagull is known by another name in the global market: the Dolphin Mini. However, specifically for the Indonesian market, it seems the manufacturer is preparing a new name before the model launches at GIIAS 2025.

This is despite the Dolphin Mini and Seagull brands already being registered, according to information we found on the PDKI (Intellectual Property Database) page.

Based on KatadataOTO's findings, the compact EV (Electric Vehicle) will be part of the Atto series. In Indonesia, there is currently one model, the Atto 3.

“If there are no obstacles, it will use the name BYD Atto 1,” said a BYD salesperson when contacted by KatadataOTO on Wednesday (16/07).

For interested prospective customers, the Seagull, also known as the BYD Atto 1, is already available for pre-order with an estimated price starting from Rp 250 million.

The BYD Atto 1 is available with two battery options, 30.08 kWh and 38.88 kWh. Both variants offer a range of 305 km to 405 km on a single charge.

Its design is relatively simple, tailored to the needs of people with mobility in urban areas. The car can accommodate five passengers.

Signs of the Atto 2's Arrival

BYD's decision to introduce the Seagull as the Atto 1 strengthens the signal of another complementary line's arrival: the BYD Atto 2.

The NJKB (Motor Vehicle Sales Value) of the Atto 2 is believed to be registered under the codes SC3E-ETD-1 (4X2) AT and SC3E-STD-1 (4X2) AT.

If it is indeed registered, the price range for the BYD Atto 2 might not be far from its NJKB, which is from Rp 245 million to Rp 281 million and above, lower than the Atto 3.

For comparison, the price of the BYD Atto 3 as of July 2025 is Rp 390 million to Rp 520 million on the road in Jakarta. There are several specification differences from the Atto 2.

The Atto 2 has a 42.4 kWh battery capacity with a claimed range below the Atto 3, at 311 km.

The BYD Atto 2's electric motor allows the vehicle to produce a maximum power of 174 hp and a peak torque of 290 Nm.

BYD has not provided further details regarding the possibility of the BYD Atto 2. However, it is certain that the Seagull or BYD Atto 1 will arrive first at the GIIAS 2025 event.
