BYD Seagull is expected to launch soon, offering options in the untapped entry-level segment.

KatadataOTO – Although it has become the best-selling electric car manufacturer in Indonesia, BYD has confirmed it will expand its product lineup in the country. One way is by introducing a model with a more competitive price.
This way, the Chinese manufacturer can tap into a wider market and dominate the domestic market.
“BYD is one of the most complete electric car manufacturers, from entry-level to premium. But there is a market that we feel has the opportunity to experience EVs, which is with more affordable options,” said Luther
He also revealed that they are currently conducting a study to introduce it through a new model, including the Seagull.
“We are currently studying it, including that product. But, well, nobody knows because maybe in the future there will be another product launch,” he then added.
It was previously reported that BYD has registered the BYD Dolphin Mini, also known as the Seagull, with the PDKI (Directorate General of Intellectual Property).
Additionally, on the Samsat-PKB website, models with codes EQ-ETD-1 (4X2) AT and EQ-STD-1 (4X2) AT, believed to be the BYD Seagull, have also been registered.
This car has a compact size with a length of 3,780 mm, a width of 1,715 mm, and a height of 1,580 mm. These dimensions are sufficient for five adult passengers.
Although it is compact, the car still has a fairly sporty appearance. Especially at the front, the bumper has a unique design that makes it look sharp.
Despite its compact impression, its performance is claimed to be capable. This is because the car is equipped with a 30 kWh Blade Battery and can travel up to 300 km (NEDC) on a single charge.
The power is then used to operate an electric motor capable of producing 73 hp and 135 Nm of torque. The maximum speed of this model is 130 km per hour.
This model is already marketed in several countries, including Malaysia. The price is also quite competitive, starting from RM 99,900 or around Rp 367.7 million.
Meanwhile, the cheapest BYD model in Indonesia is currently the M6, which is priced at Rp 383 million.
