BYD Seagull's True Form Revealed, Wuling BinguoEV Must Be Wary

KatadataOTO – The real form of the BYD Seagull for the Indonesian market has finally been revealed. The electric car has secretly arrived in Jakarta.

This was discovered in a post on the TikTok account @BYDID. One unit of the BYD Seagull was seen being unloaded from a tow truck.

This Electric Vehicle (EV) appears to have a silver color. It is then combined with several black accents on the body.

“What are you waiting for? Here it is, the BYD Seagull has landed in Jakarta,” wrote @BYDID on Thursday (10/07).

In a similar post, it was mentioned that consumers who want to own this new BYD electric car can already place an order.

Consumers just need to submit a booking fee of Rp 10 million to own the BYD Seagull.

The post immediately drew various responses from netizens. Many asked for more information about this EV from China.

Ranging from color options to the price of the BYD Seagull that will be offered to consumers in the country.

“The official price is not out yet, the official price will be launched during GIIAS 2025,” he emphasized.

Indeed, pre-orders for the BYD Seagull had already been opened. A number of sales representatives have been offering this electric car.

It seems highly likely that the BYD Seagull will be launched at the GIIAS 2025 automotive exhibition, which will be held later this month.

On the other hand, the presence of the BYD Seagull will challenge a number of electric four-wheeled vehicles that are already on Indonesian roads.

Such as the Wuling BinguoEV, which is currently sold with a price tag of Rp 301 million to Rp 345 million.

For your information, the BYD Seagull electric car is equipped with a 30 kWh capacity battery. It can travel up to 300 km on a single charge (based on NEDC testing).

In the powertrain sector, the BYD Seagull is equipped with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor. It is claimed to have a power output of 73 hp and a peak torque of 135 Nm.

Once officially marketed, the EV will target the entry-level vehicle segment. Thus, more consumers can be reached.

It was previously reported that BYD has registered the Dolphin Mini, also known as the Seagull, with the Directorate General of Intellectual Property (PDKI).

Then, on the official Samsat-PKB website, models with the codes EQ-ETD-1 (4X2) AT and EQ-STD-1 (4X2) AT, which are believed to be the BYD Seagull, have also been registered.
