KatadataOTO – BYD Seal has achieved a new positive record in the Southeast Asian region. This is because the car achieved a five-star safety rating from ASEAN NCAP.
This record shows that the car has high safety standards. ASEAN NCAP revealed that the BYD Seal successfully obtained an overall score of 92.07 points.
This score was obtained after the car was tested in four important categories, namely Adult Occupant Protection (AOP) with 38.44 points, Child Occupant Protection (COP) with 16.60 points, Safety Assist (SA) with 19.52 points, and Motorcyclist Safety (MS) with 17.50 points.
From these figures, the Offset Frontal Test in AOP drew attention due to its significant score of 14.75 points. Meanwhile, the Side Impact Test and Head Protection Technology Evaluation each received 8.00 points.
Then for the COP Dynamic Test, it also achieved a high score of 24.00 points, Side Impact 8.00 points, Vehicle Base 8.00 points, and Installation 10.33 points.
This high score is inseparable from the safety technology embedded in the car, which had a major impact on the test results. Various modern features have also been included as standard in all variants.
These features include nine airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) City, AEB Inter-Urban, AEB Pedestrian, Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Lane Keep Assist (LKA), Forward Collision Warning (FCW), Blind Spot Detection (BSD), Auto High Beam (AHB), Pedestrian Protection (PP), ISOFIX, and AEB for motorcycles.
In addition, the BYD Seal has also made the Seatbelt Reminder System (SBR) standard for the front and rear passenger seats. Interestingly, a rear passenger detection feature is available in all variants.
The abundance of these safety features enabled the car to achieve high scores in the Safety Assist and Motorcyclist Safety categories.
“We appreciate BYD's commitment to road safety, evidenced by the inclusion of various significant vehicle safety features in its models. This is evident in their latest model, the BYD Seal, where the majority of its technology is available as standard equipment in all its variants,” wrote ASEAN NCAP in an official statement.
