The BYD Seal wagon version was unveiled at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025 and will go on sale in the second quarter of 2025.
KatadataOTO – The Seal is one of the flagship EV (Electric Vehicle) models from BYD (Build Your Dreams) that is also already sold in Indonesia.
The SUV (Sport Utility Vehicle) version of the Seal, the Sealion 07, has also been brought to Indonesia, presenting a new option for consumers in the country.
This time, the Seal is being reintroduced to the market in a wagon form. The model was launched at the Shanghai Auto Show 2025.
BYD Seal Wagon still retains various characteristics of the Ocean series as applied to the Seal sedan.
At a glance, the fascia and rear light design are still very similar to the Seal we know in Indonesia.
However, viewed from the side, its shape is elongated, reminiscent of the M6 MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle). Unlike the Seal sedan, the BYD Seal Wagon's door handles still use a conventional design, not flush ones.
In terms of dimensions, the BYD Seal Wagon measures L x W x H at 4,850 mm x 1,890 mm x 1,505 mm, while its wheelbase is 2,790 mm.
For comparison, the BYD M6 has a length of 4,710 mm, a width of 1,810 mm, and a height of 1,690 mm, or slightly longer than the Seal Wagon.
The PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) version of the Seal wagon, known as the DM-i, uses a 1,500 cc engine with the code BYD472QC.
The engine configuration can produce 74 kW (99.2 hp) of power, supported by an electric motor available in two options: 120 kW (160.9 hp) or 160 kW (214.5 hp).
Like other BYD lines, the battery uses LFP or Lithium-iron Phosphate material.
The standard version of the BYD Seal wagon PHEV offers an extra range of 53 km (CLTC). Meanwhile, its top variant can go further, reaching 83 km on a single charge.
The EV type of the BYD Seal wagon is also available in two type options, however, its technical specifications have not been detailed.
Reporting from Carnewschina, Monday (28/04), the car will be sold to consumers in the second quarter of 2025 with a price range of 120,000 yuan-150,000 yuan (approx. Rp 277.4 million-Rp 346.8 million). However, there is no information yet on when the BYD Seal wagon will be offered to the global market.
