KatadataOTO – Recently, BYD (Build Your Dreams) once again introduced an electric car innovation, namely an ultra-fast EV (Electric Vehicle) charging system. The technology is claimed to be able to charge a vehicle in just five minutes.

The 10C Megawatt charger can be used by BYD electric car users who utilize the latest Super e-Platform with a 1,000-volt system.

In short, in five minutes, an EV can regain a range of 400 km.

At the charger's launch, BYD also introduced two of its newest models using the Super e-Platform that already support ultra-fast charging, namely the BYD Han L EV 4WD and the Tang L EV 4WD.

As a result, BYD shares skyrocketed and reached a record high after its chairman announced that BYD cars could compete with Tesla by offering charging as fast as refueling an ICE car.

In Hong Kong, BYD's stock surged by more than six percent, reaching a 52-week high.

Meanwhile in Shenzhen, China, BYD's stock price on the stock exchange rose by two percent on Tuesday (18/03).

BYD plans to install more than 4,000 fast-charging points throughout China. The hope is to reduce consumer anxiety for those interested in buying an electric car.
